Extending his wishes to the people on the occasion of Rashtriya Ekta Diwas which commemorates the birth anniversary of Patel, Chief Minister Singh reminded the people about his contribution to India's independence struggle.
"Son of a farmer, Patel made strenuous efforts to unite various territories of India under one flag. The dream of a united India has come true as a result of his vision. He transformed India into a nation," Singh said.
The Chief Minister administered the pledge of maintaining unity and integrity of the country to all citizens and students present on the occasion, after which a 'Run for Unity' rally commenced from Gandhi Udyan, and passed through Ambedkar Chowk, Raj Bhavan Road and Police Headquarters Road, to end at the spot from where it began.
National Cadet Corps (NCC) cadet and a large number of youngsters participated in the marathon enthusiastically.
