Union Minister of State for Minority Affairs Ninong Ering today termed the Chinese incursion on Indian Territory as "extremely unfortunate" saying that the attitude of their military is very unbecoming.
"As an individual from Ladakh or Arunachal Pradesh being the border area of China, we would request the Chinese government that this attitude by their military is very unbecoming," Ering said in a statement.
According to reports, a platoon-strength contingent of China's People's Liberation Army (PLA) had entered the Indian Territory in Daulat Beg Oldi (DBO) sector in eastern Ladakh and erected a tented post, setting the stage for a face-off with Indian troops.
"We really want that China and India work together for the development of the people, development of the country and become two very strong forces, which in fact the whole world will be afraid of," he said.
The Congress MP from Arunachal Pradesh said that this contentious issue was there even in his own state.
"We have this issue even in Arunachal Pradesh also. This is a story not of now, but even before the 1962 aggression or even before 1947. We had trade links with China, but of course it was not China it was Tibet at that time. So, we never had any links with China," said Ering.
"We had relations with Tibet. Of course we had our own sovereignty, they had their own sovereignty. That time Tibet was not under the control of China," he added.
DBO, which is located in northernmost Ladakh, is a historic campsite.
It is located on an ancient trade route connecting Ladakh to Yarkand in Xinjiang, China.
