Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has urged the people to launch a drive against social malpractices and to take a pledge to develop an addiction-free society.
"Bring awareness against social malpractices like dowry and 'Mrityubhoj' (mass feast on the 13th day of death of a person) and ensure that every child goes to school," Chouhan said addressing the inaugural function of Akhil Bharatiya Kirar Kshatriya Mahasabha's national working committee here yesterday.
He also urged the people to take a pledge to develop a society free from addiction of drugs, liquor and tobacco.
On the occasion, the CM called upon the people "to live for the country."
"The state government has chalked out welfare schemes for every section of society and asked people to ensure extension of their benefit to needy people," he said.
Madhya Pradesh is maintaining a growth rate in double digits for last seven years. The state's agricultural growth rate is highest in the country. Investment is coming to Madhya Pradesh at a rapid pace, he said.
Chouhan said that several schemes are being implemented for the welfare of farmers. Now, farmers can pay only 90 per cent of the agricultural loan taken by them.
From Rabi season, new crop insurance scheme will be launched under which input cost and minimum 50 per cent income in proportion to that will be assured.
Referring to the welfare of women, the Chief Minister said several schemes for women's empowerment are under implementation in the state.
