Insurgents had killed 18 soldiers in an ambush in Chandel district of Manipur on June 4.
Chouhan laid a wreath on a photograph of soldier Jitendra Singh, of 6 Dogra infantry regiment, yesterday saying that his government will ensure that sacrifices of martyred soldiers do not go in vain, an official said.
He presented a cheque of Rs 10 lakh to Kushwaha's wife Savita.
On the occasion, the Chief minister also announced allotment of a house and job to one member of the bereaved family, on the occasion.
Chouhan also announced to name the entry gate and primary school of the village after the martyr.
Madhya Pradesh Public Relations, Energy and Mineral Resources Development Minister Rajendra Shukla was also present on the occasion.
