Martin, 37, said the estranged couple still has feelings for each other and he feels close to Paltrow, 41, even today, reported Contactmusic.
"The truth is... Well, I don't really love talking about this stuff. But the thing we told everyone at the beginning of the year is true (split).
"We are very close. We are not together. But we're, you know, that's the truth and that's it. There's a lot of love. No scandal, I'm afraid. I wish I could give you scandal," Martin said.
Martin blames himself for the couple's separation. "About two years ago I was a mess really because I can't enjoy the thing that we are good at and I can't enjoy the great things around me because I'm burdened by this.
"I've got to not blame anyone else and make some changes," he had said earlier.
