The 38-year-old English singer was joined onstage by Indian composer-singer Vishal Dadlani last evening, who later shared a few pictures from the jamming session.
"What can I say, really? Tonight was BIG. On stage with Chris Martin singing to a stunned Delhi crowd...," tweeted an excited Vishal, alongside a picture of Martin, plugging the guitar strings and singing, and himself on the microphone.
"Ok, I just got off stage from standing around while Chris Martin of Coldplay did an impromptu set. Holy wow!!" he further said.
Also present at the session at Hauz Khas Village's eatery joint was actress Freida Pinto, stand-up comedy group AIB and musician Raghu Dixit, among others.
The British musician is in the country for a charity event for The Global Poverty Project, a nonprofit organization dedicated to seeing an end to extreme poverty by 2030.
