Directorate of Revenue intelligence officials said the cigarettes were seized when they were smuggled along with A4 size paper at Tuticorin port on Tuesday.
They said some gang in Kerala tried to smuggle the cigarettes under A4 size label.Efforts are being made to identify the gang.
The container had been smuggled from UAE from Jebel Ali port,they said.
Officials, who examined the container in the presence of eye-witnesses, said it contained three rows of Russian made A4 size papers and behind the paper parcel was 300 cartons of cigarettes of different brands including Davidoff white.
