The Union Coal Ministry has asked Coal India for more coal linkages for the non-regulated sector through auction.
"The quantity to be offered in Tranche III is being worked out and will be known shortly. The auction is expected to take place by the end of July or August," a Coal India official said.
"Ministry of Coal... Has issued policy guidelines and directed Coal India to conduct auction of coal linkages for the non-regulated sector. Towards this, CIL announces auction of coal linkages (Tranche III) for the non-regulated sector," CIL said in a regulatory filing.
The miner auctioned linkage worth 22 million tonnes of coal in the first tranche, while it offered 15 million tonnes in the second tranche, the official said.
The non-regulated sector include cement, steel/sponge iron, aluminium and others.
