The dispatch comes after the Director General of Health Services (DGHS), Srinagar, apprised the Sir Ganga Ram Hospital management that most hospitals in the flood-ravaged Valley have become non-functional, except for Ahmed Hospital.
Attention was also drawn to the acute shortage of medicines, blankets and food items in the Valley for patients.
"As per the requirements mentioned, and in continuation of the hospital's CSR initiative, we have today dispatched the first lot of blankets, bedsheets, sterilised OT sheets, injections, IV fluids, disposable syringes, inhalers, tablets, adhesive plaster and many other items, worth Rs 10 lakh," the hospital said in a statement here.
The relief items sent today have been delivered to the Resident Commissioner at Jammu and Kashmir Bhawan here to be flown to Srinagar on an urgent basis.
