Clashes in Jerusalem ahead of Palestinian killer driver

Israeli police clashed with Palestinians in east Jerusalem today and braced for more ahead of the funeral of a Palestinian driver who drove into a crowd, killing an Israeli baby.
With tensions further stoked after the army shot dead a West Bank teenager yesterday there were also reports of stoning of Israeli vehicles on roads around Ramallah.
Police were "ready for anything" today after disturbances in Arab east Jerusalem prompted four arrests overnight, spokeswoman Luba Samri told AFP.
Police branded as a "terror attack" an incident Wednesday in which Abdelrahman Shaludi, 21, from east Jerusalem's flashpoint Silwan neighbourhood drove at high speed into a crowd of Israelis.

Three-month-old Haya Zissel Braun was killed and six others injured.
Shaludi was shot dead by police as he fled on foot.

Palestinian sources said he was to be buried in Jerusalem at 10:00 pm (1900 GMT) today.
Public radio said the timing was set by Israeli authorities, who also imposed a maximum limit of 80 mourners for fear the event could turn into a violent protest.
As evening fell, violence erupted across east Jerusalem.
In Silwan, locals stoned a sanitation vehicle sent to clean up debris from yesterday's stone throwing there, and police responded with "non-lethal means of dispersal," Samri said using a term generally alluding to tear gas or stun grenades.

In Al-Tur on the Mount of Olives, masked Palestinians blocked the road with garbage bins, and threw stones and petrol bombs, a police statement said.
Near the Shuafat refugee camp stones were throne at the Jerusalem light rail, a frequent target. Police said a carriage window was damaged but no one was hurt.
