Jammu and Kashmir unit of CPI(M) today asked Central and the state governments to clear confusion created by their "contradictory statements" on rehabilitation of displaced Kashmiri Pandits in the Valley.
"If the Union Home Minister's statement is true, then the same belies Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed's claim made on the floor of Assembly that no land will be made available for creation for separate colonies for migrant Pandits in Kashmir," senior CPI(M) leader and Kulgam MLA Mohammad Yousuf Tarigami said in a statement here.
He said both the Union and the state governments must clear "confusion" that has been created by their "contradictory claims" on this very sensitive issue.
"Pandits are the part of composite pluralistic culture of the state and any move aimed at segregating Kashmiri society will prove counter productive," he said opposing the rehabilitation of the community in separate colonies.
Tarigami said the issue of rehabilitation of Pandits is purely a humanitarian issue and the same should be resolved through purposeful dialogue between different communities of the Valley.
Replying to a two-day debate on the demand for grants of the Home Ministry, Singh yesterday stated in Lok Sabha that Sayeed has promised to earmark 50 acres of land as a first instalment for the purpose of rehabilitation of Kashmiri Pandits in the Valley.
