Mainly clear skies prevailed in the national capital today even as dense fog engulfed several parts of the city during early morning hours hitting rail and air operations severely.
According to a senior railway official, 50 trains were running late, while 47 were rescheduled while as many as 112 flights were delayed because of the dense foggy conditions with visibility remaining below 50 metres between 2.30 AM and 8.30 AM.
The minimum temperature was recorded at 9.5 degrees Celsius, two notches above normal while the maximum temperature settled at 24 degrees Celsius, four notches above the season's average, said a MeT department official.
Visibility was recorded at 100 metres at 5.30 AM at Safdarjung which dipped further to 50 metres at 8.30 AM before improving to 1,200 metres three hours later.
At Palam, the visibility was less than 50 metres, both at 5.30 AM and 8.30 AM, and improved to 1,000 metres at 11.30 AM, the official said.
The humidity level oscillated between 100 and 69 per cent.
The MeT office has predicted mainly clear skies for tomorrow with the likelihood of moderate to dense fog in the morning.
"The maximum and minimum temperatures are expected to hover at 25 and 10 degrees Celsius, respectively," the weatherman said.
Yesterday, the maximum and minimum temperature were recorded at 24.3 degrees Celsius and 9.3 degrees Celsius respectively.
