Replying to a special call attention brought forward by opposition parties in the Assembly today, she said preliminary investigation revealed that a woman named Vanitha, who was having an affair with SI Ganesan, had attacked and killed him on July 22.
"The case is being investigated. Those responsible for the murder of Sub Inspector Ganesan of Annamalai Nagar police station will be brought to book and punished," she said.
An enquiry revealed that Vanitha, after having an affair with Ganesan, had divorced her husband to marry the SI. Since he had already married another woman without her knowledge,she attacked him in a fit of rage and eventually killed him.
Police have arrested Vanitha from the bus stand at Virudhachalam where she fled to after committing the crime.
