Fourteen local fishermen were detained after the incident as they tried to sail away following warning shots.
"The incident took place in the high sea between coast of Mundra and Jakhau when a fishing boat came in the way of an ICG ship, which first sounded alarm to alert the fishermen," said Superintendent of Police Makrand Chauhan.
"When the fishing boat did not give way, two rounds were fired from the ICG ship. These shots were "flash fire", a non-lethal ammunition used to warn others in the sea. No one was injured in the incident," Chauhan added.
"Upon checking their Identity cards, it was established that all of them are local fishermen. We let them go after giving them a warning," said Chauhan.
