The fishing boat 'Laila', carrying eight crew members, had gone to mid-sea for fishing last Friday and developed a technical snag in its engine.
It was adrift 20 nautical miles southeast of Paradip without propulsion and power supply due to engine failure, officials of the Coast Guard regional headquarter (North-East) in Kolkata said.
After receiving an SOS call from the owner of the boat, the Coast Guard sailed C-426, a high-speed ship based at Paradip in Odisha.
Officers reached the boat last Sunday morning and tried to repair the engine without success. They then towed the boat towards Paradip.
