Cold wave condition in north Bengal

Met office sources said the temperature is likely to go down in the region over the next few days.

Jalpaiguri had recorded 4.5 degrees celsius in 1983. Its lowest was experienced in 1905 when it recorded 2.2 degrees.

The weatherman said the mountain resort Darjeeling recorded -2 degrees celsius, Kalimpong 3 degrees, Bagdogra 5 degrees, Coochbehar 6 degrees, Raiganj 7 degrees, Maldah 10 degrees and Gangtok in Sikkim 4 degrees.

Life was hit by the cold forcing people to remain indoors. Airlines services was hit due to fog and almost all trains running behind schedule, official sources said.
