Telangana Chief Electoral Officer Rajath Kumar Monday said comments on social media would be monitored and any move to influence polls in cyberspace would be treated as criminal offence.

The official said the collection of voter data was progressing on the "right track" and the deadline of October 8 for announcing the final list of voters, will be met.

"Comments on Facebook and Twitter will be monitored and the users who are trying to incite violence will be brought to book by the respective authorities," he told reporters.
