The committee will be formed in a bid to develop mineral-bearing areas of the state and to expedite the exploration exercise of mines and minerals, said an official release.
Disclosing this at a meeting with the Union Minister for Mines and Steel Narendra Singh Tomar, Gogoi said, "The Committee will have Joint Secretary from the Government of India and senior officer from the department of Mines," the release said.
Tomar has assured of extending all possible support in the state government's bid in expediting the exploration activities.
"It was also decided to form District Mineral Foundation (DMF) in Assam in mineral bearing districts to sensitise overall development of mineral bearing areas and its people," the statement said.
It was also decided to set up a stockyard of Steel Authority of India Ltd in Silchar.
