Meghalaya Chief Secretary, P. Barkos Oflyn Warjri today expressed deep concern over the wars taking place in Iraq and Syria in the Middle East, which poses threat to peace in that region and the spread of Ebola disease in the world.
Addressing a three-day second conference organized by North East India International Model United Nations (NEIMUN) here today, Warjri termed the extremist Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) actions in these two countries as extremely dangerous and would affect the peace of the neighbouring nations.
Referring to the spread of Ebola in the world, Warjri said the disease was a big threat to the health and lives of people.
Turning his attention to the young participants drawn from across North East, Warjri said everyone should be an instrument for change to ensure a better society and that change should start from one's self.
Presiding over the inaugural function, North East India International Model United Nations (NEIMUN) Secretary General, Jiedine Irene Alexandria Phanbuh informed that this year's conference would allow the delegates to participate in the simulation of the UN General Assembly, and UN Indigenous forum.
The delegates would also discuss on the theme, "Post-2015 Development Agenda" and hoped that the vast array of topics and committees would ensure uniquely engaging and thought provoking experience.
