The conference on 'e-Court: Present and Future' has been organised jointly by the high court and Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (CDAC), a government body, to take stock of the developments in the existing paperless e-courts.

The conference would be inaugurated by Supreme Court Justice Altamas Kabir at India Habitat Centre here. Union Law Minister Salman Khurshid will be the guest of honour.

Besides them, it would be attended by the justices from the Supreme Court and the Delhi High Court, judicial officers from the district courts, advocates and government officials.

The conference will also include a visit to the Delhi High Court and Karkardooma District Court in East Delhi today to see real e-courts in action.

"The Delhi High Court is the first high court in India to take an initiative to establish e-Courts at high court as well as district court level. Within a span of two years, seven e-courts have started functioning at the Delhi High Court and two e-courts have been started at district courts level," a note issued by the authorities said.

It also said that the conference will be beneficial for judicial officers, lawyers, government officials, vendors and other stake-holders to understand the functioning of e-courts, data preservation and future plans in this field.
