Congress today accused the BJP of flaring up communal passions in West Bengal and asked state government to help bring back normalcy and act sternly against perpetrators of such incidents and find out the elements and factors behind those creating such a sensitive situation.
"As per out information, the BJP is responsible and has a hand in creating such a sensitive situation in Bengal where communal passions are flared up.
"Whereas it is the duty of the government to deal with such elements sternly and help bring about peace and normalcy in the state. It should also find out which elements and forces are behind creation of such a communal situation and are influencing this sensitive situation in West Bengal," Congress spokesperson Manish Tewari said.
To a question on the escape of Meat exporter Moin Qureshi's escape while hoodwinking the authorities, he said the manner in which Vijay Mallya had left the country, Qureshi also escaped in the same way.
"But the question is whether the person who helped Mallya escape has not helped Qureshi also escape.
"It is absolutely absurd the kind of story that is being put out. It is absolutely preposterous and ridiculous. Obviously, complicity of the government is there without which it would not have been facilitated," he said.
