Cong corporator among 6 held for beating food joint staff

A Congress corporator and his brother were among six persons arrested today for allegedly ransacking a roadside eatery and beating its employees over delay in getting their food parcel, police said.
"Congress leader Abhay Verma, who represents ward number 61, his brother Anand and four others were arrested from a private hospital where they got themselves admitted after the incident," Juni Indore Police Station in-charge, Pavan Singhal said.
The incident occurred last night at Tower Chouraha area here when the Verma duo got infuriated allegedly over delay by the staff in serving their order. This led to the scuffle, police said, adding the food joint was crowded on account of Sunday.

"Soon after getting information about the scuffle, nearly 10 supporters of Verma rushed to the spot and started beating the eatery owner Raghuveer Singh Sondhi and his employees. They also ransacked the place. Police somehow controlled the situation," Singhal said.
The entire incident was captured on CCTV and the action was taken on the basis of the footage and investigation is on, he said.
