Congress chief spokesperson Randeep Surjewala said the Home Minister was issuing open threats for votes.
"HM Rajnath Singh's coarse, crude language tells us that BJP will stoop to the lowest common denominator for votes.
"Should HM Rajnath Singh have indulged in such pathetic, pedestrian and provocative language & open threats for soliciting votes?" he tweeted.
"HM RajnathSingh is responsible for national security. But he has no compunctions in intimidating fellow Indians for votes. Sad and shameful," he said in another tweet.
