BJP National Secretary H Raja on Monday charged the Congress government here with failing to implement several welfare measures the NDA government had evolved for the benefit of farmers.

Talking to press persons here before flagging of a rally by BJP's local unit to protest against the government for enforcement of the agriculturists' welfare schemes in the Union Territory, he said crop insurance was among important schemes the NDA government had brought into effect.

"But the Puducherry government is dragging its feet in enforcing these progressive schemes", he said.

He also took strong exception to the protest minorities run schools were making against the New Education policy and said the policy was making education accessible to children of poor families by earmarking 25% of seats for them.

Stating that there should be no room for commercialisation of education, he opined that the protest by minorities run schools against the NEP arose from their fear of revenue loss.

On the controversy over magazine 'Widerstand' released by Students Welfare Council of Pondicherry university, he said it contained several objectionable details and hence it should be withdrawn from circulation.

He said that if the management of the University failed to withdraw the magazine the BJP would agitate to prevent its circulation.
