'Cong isolated on Telangana issue, was forced to decide'

Congress leader and Andhra Pradesh Agriculture Minister Kanna Lakshminarayana today said his party had to take the decision to grant statehood to Telangana because it was isolated on the issue.
Other parties in Andhra Pradesh had extended support to separate Telangana, so Congress was compelled to take the decision, he said, addressing the anti-Telangana protesters who gathered around his house here, seeking his resignation.
He described the Congress Working Committee's decision as "unfortunate".
His resignation would not serve any purpose, he added.
