"I will resign from the party on November 16 and officially join the Trinamool Congress on November 20," said the first time MLA from Rejinagar in Murshidabad district, a Congress stronghold.

Kabir had met state Chief Minister and Trinamool Congress president Mamata Banerjee in Kolkata yesterday.

He said he lost faith in the Murshidabad district Congress leadership in the fight against CPI(M) after Adhir Chowdhury, the party's district chief, was made the Union Minister of State for Railways.

Besides, he said, he suspected that he would be attacked by CPI(M) backed goons.
