With the Centre becoming proactive on creation of Telangana, a Congress MP from Maharashtra espousing the cause of Vidarbha today expressed his readiness to quit Lok Sabha if BJP MPs and MLAs take initiative in resigning over the matter.
"BJP MPs and MLAs from the region should resign and I will stand with them. Then I will resign," Vilas Muttemwar, a former Congress General Secretary told reporters.
Seeking to throw the ball in the BJP's court, he said being the opposition party it should take the initiative on the Vidarbha issue and should not blame the Congress which has never supported the cause.
As against this, he said the BJP in its Bhubaneshwar meet in 1996 passed a resolution in favour of a separate Vidarbha.
