Raising the issue during the discussion on the Finance Bill, Reddy said MLAs are getting as high as Rs 2 crore from their legislative assemblies but the amount of Rs 5 crore under MPLAD has not changed since the last 10 years.
"I request the NDA government to at least increase it to Rs 10 crore and I am sure everyone will support me," he said.
The Rajya Sabha Member of Parliament can recommend works in one or more districts in the State from where he/she has been elected.
Under MPLADS, the role of the Members of Parliament is limited only upto recommendation of works. Thereafter, it is the responsibility of the District Authority to sanction, execute and complete the works recommended by MPs within the stipulated time period.
