Uttarakhand Congress today carried out statewide protests against the rising prices of petroleum products and demanded rollback of the hikes.
In state capital Dehradun, senior Congress leaders, led by party state vice president Jot Singh Bisht, staged a demonstration at the residence of the District Magistrate and also submitted a memorandum addressed to President Pranab Mukherjee.
In the memorandum, the party alleged that "BJP leaders had promised to bring down petroleum prices and control inflation during the Lok Sabha elections. But petroleum prices are increasing, affecting the common man."
They also demanded that the President direct the Central government for a rollback of the hike.
