Seeking to keep the party unit in order in Manipur where it had witnessed dissidence recently, Congress President Sonia Gandhi today reconstituted the Pradesh Congress Committee, making it a jumbo affair with six Vice Presidents and 11 General Secretaries and as many secretaries.
Gandhi had recently appointed T N Haokip, a former Minister, as the PCC President to quell infighting in the unit and had promised to make changes soon in the state organisation.
With the Assembly elections in the state scheduled next year, AICC has also constituted the Pradesh election committee which has Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh and Haokip as prominent members.
