The 'Jan Aakrosh' rally organised by women's wing of the party, underlined the incompetence of the present government in acting against its erring ministers as well as faltering on its poll promises.
All India Mahila Congress chief Shobha Ojha accused the Modi government of doing "big u-turns" on promises like reducing inflation, fighting corruption, zero tolerance for atrocities against women and others - all made during 2014 Lok Sabha elections.
The party also sought to build pressure on the NDA government grappling with serious corruption charges against its ministers.
External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj is accused of helping former IPL boss Lalit Modi procure British travel documents, while Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje is charged of backing his immigration plea.
Union HRD Minister Smriti Irani is embroiled in an alleged fake degree row, while pressure is being put on Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan to step down over Vyapam scam, in which allegedly more than 40 people connected have died in "suspicious" circumstances.
"As far as corruption is concerned, we know Vyapam scam, chikki scam in Maharashtra, Rs 36,000 crore PDS scam of Chhattisgarh and the Modigate which happened. And the Prime Minister has been mum on all these issues," Ojha said.
The rally was attended by Congress general secretary Digvijay Singh, former Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Ajit Jogi and other party leaders.
Ojha said that the protesters took to street in the wake of party vice president Rahul Gandhi telling the women wing about him mounting pressure on the government inside the House.
On being queried about BJP defending the leaders concerned, he said it was because "they (BJP) do not have any morale".
