BJP today accused Congress of "throwing in the towel" ahead of Delhi Assembly elections after former Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit's comment that the party may extend support to Aam Aadmi Party in case of a hung verdict.
"...The rivals are coming together. Sheila Dikshit is promoting Aam Aadmi Party. Therefore, Congress is throwing in the towel because Sheila Dikshit is their biggest leader," Union minister and senior BJP leader Ravi Shankar Prasad said.
Asked who the BJP considered as its main rival in Delhi elections, he said, "It is clear indication who is backing whom. It is also clear who are we in fight with."
Prasad, however, said that his party was confident of getting a majority and forming government in Delhi. "We are confident of getting a majority in Delhi," he said.
Asked about the prevailing political situation in Bihar, he said, there was a "drama" unfolding there and hinted at early elections by the end of the year as, he claimed, the alliance between JD-U and RJD will not work for long.
"Even drama has a script. What is happening in Bihar is a drama without any script... This coming together is not a union of hearts. It is a union of anxiety, despair and disillusionment," he said.
Prasad said the Bihar Chief Minister was also becoming the "centre of the drama" and added BJP was closely watching the situation.
"We are watching this drama and so are the people of Bihar. Wait till October-November. There will be early elections in Bihar and people will stand by the BJP," said Prasad, who hails from Bihar.
