In view of the recent incidents of communal violence in the state and to highlight the need for restoring peace, Congressmen will take out silent peace marches on the death anniversary of former prime minister Indira Gandhi on October 31.
On the call of UPCC president Nirmal Khatri, district and city units of the party will take out maun shanti marches all across the state on October 31, Congress spokesman Virendra Madan said.
Congressmen have been asked to carry only party flags and placards having messages of peace and amity and play Gandhiji's bhajans, Madan said.
The UPCC president has assigned senior leaders the responsibility of making the march programme a success, he added.
