Leader of Opposition (Congress) in state Legislative Assembly K Jana Reddy recalled the contributions of his party to the development of Hyderabad and also Telangana.
It was Congress which initiated mega irrigation projects like Nagarjuna Sagar and PSUs in Hyderabad, paving way for development of the region, he said.
Asserting that Congress president Sonia Gandhi had taken a decision in favour of separate state though she knew that the party might suffer politically (in Seemandhra region), Reddy said he condemned Rao's attack on her.
"Is it not Congress which destroyed Telangana? It is a curse since then, till today. It is like a 'shani' for Telangana," the Chief Minister had alleged. "It was Sonia Gandhi who delayed (separate Telangana)for 14 years and became responsible for deaths of many".
Rao's comments on opposition parties reflected his "growing impatience", BJP's floor leader in Legislative Assembly G Kishan Reddy alleged.
Taking objection to Rao's remarks that he secured statehood for Telangana, he claimed the previous UPA government formed the separate state out of fear for BJP and not because of Rao.
TDP MLA and working president of the party's state unit A Revant Reddy said Rao found fault with TDP for not constructing infrastructure like drainage systems though it built 'Hitech City' for IT promotion.
"Why has the TRS government failed to build such drainage system in more than three years since it assumed office?" he asked.
The TDP leader favoured "polarisation" of political parties against the TRS government.
