"IIT Madras has revoked the ban on the directions of Union HRD Ministry after nation-wide protests intensified. I welcome the decision on behalf of TNCC," TNCC President EVKS Elangovan said in a statement here.
He said Congress Vice- President Rahul Gandhi had condemned the move even as the party's SC Wing had staged a protest in the city.
Earlier, DMK had welcomed IIT-M revoking the ban on Ambedkar Periyar Study Circle (APSC), saying opposition from political parties had prompted the institute to act in favour of the students' body.
