Police had to use water cannons to disperse the demonstrators as hundreds of them under the leadership of DPCC chief spokesperson and senior leader Mukesh Sharma protested in the area.
Police even detained leaders Sharma, Sajjan Kumar and youth Congress leader Tasveer Solanki along with some demonstrators.
Sharma warned that if the hiked prices are not rolled back, Congress may call for a Delhi bandh.
The demonstrators also took out a funeral procession of the BJP-led Central Government.
"The BJP-led Central Government, instead of bringing good days, have brought such days for people which they had not even imagined. So many anti-people decisions one after another have made people's lives miserable," said Sharma.
He said if the price rise was not brought under control, the people would gherao the BJP leaders on the streets.
