Constable absconding for 12 years arrested

A dismissed constable who was absconding for 12 years was arrested in Shamli district in connection with a murder case, police said today.
Ompal was absconding since 2003 after a murder case was registered against him, police said.
In 2003, six persons were shot dead over an old enmity at Butrada village after which police registered a case against 11 people, including Ompal.
Ompal, who was a constable in Assam Rifles then, was dismissed from the service. Police had registered a case against him after the murders and also announced a cash reward of Rs 12000, Superintendent of Police Subhash Singh Bhagel today.
