A special court here today granted bail to key SIMI leader Abu Faizal's accomplice Mahtab who has been convicted for abetting the murder of a police constable in 2009.
Additional Sessions Judge B S Bhadoria ordered that Mahtab be released on bail after he has furnished a personal bond of Rs 25000 and security deposit of an equal amount.
The court had on October 31 sentenced Mahtab to three-year imprisonment for aiding Faizal to kill Sitaram Yadav in Khandwa district, after finding him guilty under Arms Act for supplying the weapon.
The court had sentenced Faizal to life imprisonment in the case.
According to prosecution, Faizal and four others had shot Yadav dead. While three of them are still absconding, another one is dead.
