'Constable, watchman died in road accident'

A police constable and a watchman, riding a motorcycle on their way to Hardoi near here on official duty, were crushed to death by a speeding truck today, the police said.

"Police Constable Vipin Bainsla (25) and watchmen Sumer (42) were going to Hariyali Bazar (in Hardoi district) on duty, when a truck laden with buffaloes hit their motorcycle from behind and crushed them." said Hardoi Superintendent of Police Vipin Mishra.

Sumer died on the spot, while Bipin succumbed to his injuries at Shahjahanpur district hospital, the officer said, adding the bodies of the deceased have been sent for post-mortem.

Meanwhile, Shahjahanpur police said it has seized the truck involved in the accident.
