The committee, headed by the textile minister, would help the growth of the industry, including apparel and also help address textile-related issues, TEA president A Shaktivel said in a letter to Jayalalithaa.
TEA also thanked for extension of state Government's financial support up to 25 per cent in project estimates under the Centre's scheme for integrated textile processing development, which is a major requirement for improvement made in the processing sector, the weakest link in the textile value chain.
The garment sector possesses more than 80 per cent of units under SME categories and an announcement on unveiling of new MSME policy would pave the way for growth of garment sector in Tamil Nadu, including garment exports, Shaktivel said.
