"I welcome the very idea of Anna Hazare to participate in coming election. I think that is correct way for him to muster people's support...," he told reporters when asked about the anti-corruption crusader's ongoing indefinite fast demanding a strong Lokpal.

Hazare had on the eve of joinin the fast attacked both Congress and BJP and talked about the need for a political alternative in the 2014 elections, during which he will campaign for those with clean background.

However, he had clarified he will not contest the elections or form a party.

Krishna said a group of people who want to bring qualitative change should come to a conclusion and decide the method to be followed to bring about change.

There was level playing field in India for every political party. "Then they will have their say and we (political parties) will have our say. Ultimately we are all bound by the kind of response and support we will be able to gain," he said.

Condemning the attack by Anna supporters on mediapersons at the fast venue Jantar Mantar, Krishna said "media does what is best and (thses) people are not certainly the judges to say what media should do. Media has its own way of presenting facts to the people of the country. They have done an exemplary job," he added.
