The body of a contractual employee was found hanging at the office of Sub-Divisional Magistrate, Kalkaji in southeast Delhi's Tughlakabad today, with police suspecting that he committed suicide.
Rahul Kumar Prasad (26) was working as a data entry operator at the SDM's office. His body was found hanging inside a storeroom on the third floor of the office, police said.
A suicide note has been found from the spot. No one was blamed for his death in the note. It is suspected that he was suffering from depression, they said.
Yesterday, Prasad and one of his colleagues were called to office for work. After his colleague left, Prasad went to the storeroom and hanged himself, police said.
When he did not return home till late in the night and calls to his mobile phone went unanswered, his family members started looking for him and contacted the police.
His mobile phone location was found to be in the SDM office, following which the police reached there and found him hanging inside the storeroom.
"In the note, Prasad has mentioned about not being able to attain success in life. He apologised to his family, asked his brother to take care of his parents and thanked his uncle and aunt for standing by his family through thick and thin," a senior police officer said.
In the note, he has also asked his brother to repay the loan he had taken from two men, but has not specified the loan amount, the officer said, adding investigation into the case is on.
