Over 350 men and women workers led by Contract Employees' Association President Deepak Kumar Sharma held the silent sit-in holding placards and posters.
About 600 such non-teaching employees have been working in the varsity for many years, and their jobs have not been regularised, Sharma said, adding that the new government had set up a committee headed by Health Minister Rajendra Rathore which was yet to take a move regarding this.
When asked, Vice Chancelloe, Dr Swarup said, "None of these are employees of the University of Rajasthan. A number of private institutions have hired them for varsity's various day to day work.
