Sheikh Noor Alam was arrested for molesting the woman constable in an inebriated condition when they were posted outside the office of the deputy commissioner of police (southeast) on October 11.
"On receiving the complaint by the victim, we arrested Alam on that day itself. We have launched an investigation into the incident," DC (eastern suburban division) Dhrubojyoti Dey said.
Alam has been remanded to jail custody.
