Cop held for accepting bribe in Gadchiroli

An Assistant Sub Inspector of Police (ASI) from Aarmori Police Station in Gadchiroli district was today caught red handed for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 1500, for not seeking police custodial remand of an accused.
52-year-old Dayanand Raghunand Nagre demanded Rs 2,000 from an accused who was arrested for allegedly carrying liquor in the dry district of Gadchiroli for not seeking police custodial remand (PCR), a release from Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) said.
He later agreed to accept Rs 1,500 and was caught red handed by the ACB today, it said.
He was later arrested and case under relevant section of Prevention of Corruption Act was registered, the release added.
