Cop injured in attack

A police constable was badly
injured after being allegedly attacked by an unknown person here in the wee hours today, police said.
At around 3 AM today, when constable Vijay Sapkale (27) was on his duty in Kopri locality of the city, an unidentified man attacked him with a sharp weapon and then immediately fled in the darkness, they said.
The injured policeman was rushed to Thane civil hospital.
Kopri police have registered an offence under section 333 (voluntarily causing grievous hurt to deter public servant from his duty) of the IPC and launched a search for the attacker.
