Last night, sub-inspector Amit Uttekar(30), posted at the Vanrai police station in Mumbai, had gone to a street side food joint in Dombivili along with his two relatives for dinner.
At around 8.30 PM, the trio had an altercation with Fakruddin Mohammad Shaikh over parking of vehicle.
The trio got annoyed and in a fit of the anger picked up an iron rod from a nearby automobile shop and attacked Shaikh following which he died, police said.
The accused police officer also filed a complaint against the deceased for rioting and attempting to murder him, police added.
