Copper futures rise on Asian cues, overseas cues

Amid a firming trend in the Asian region and rising spot demand, copper futures prices rose marginally by 0.06 per cent to Rs 462.20 per kg today as speculators enlarged positions.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, copper for delivery in far-month April gained 30 paise, of 0.06 per cent at Rs 462.20 per kg in a business turnover of 14 lots.
Similarly, the metal for delivery in February gained 15 paise, or 0.03 per cent at Rs 457.55 per kg in business volume of 412 lots.
Marketmen said besides pick up in domestic demand, a firming trend in the Asian region, mainly influenced copper prices at futures trade.
Meanwhile, copper for delivery in March traded 0.20 per cent higher at 51,810 yuan (USD 8,574) per tonne in Shanghai.
