Copper futures up by 0.40% on spot demand

Copper prices were up by 0.40 per cent to Rs 380.50 per kg in futures trading today as speculators widened fresh positions.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, copper for delivery in February month rose by Rs 1.50, or 0.40 per cent, to Rs 380.50 per kg in business turnover of 1,094 lots.
Similarly, the metal for delivery in far-month April contract traded higher by Rs 1.35, or 0.35 per cent to Rs 384.05 per kg in 32 lots.
Analysts attributed the rise in copper futures trade to a firm trend at the domestic physical market where the metal led select base metals higher on the back of pick up in demand from consuming industries.
