Copper prices slipped by Rs 3 per kg at the non-ferrous metal market today owing to muted demand from consuming industries amid weak trend overseas.
Traders said sluggish demand from consuming industries at domestic spot market and a weak trend overseas mainly led to the decline in copper prices.
Globally, copper for delivery in three-month dropped USD 84 to USD 5,720 per tonne on the London Metal Exchange with losses also being driven by prospects in resumption of output from BHP Billiton Ltd's Escondida mine in Chile after a strike.
In the national capital, copper mixed scrap shed Rs 3 at Rs 350 per kg.
Following are today's metal rates (in Rs per kg):
Zinc ingot Rs 102-108, Nickel plate (4x4) Rs 792-797, gun metal scrap Rs 227, Bell metal scrap Rs 229, copper mixed scrap Rs 350, chadri deshi Rs 295.
Lead ingot Rs 89, lead imported Rs 95, aluminium ingots Rs 154, aluminium sheet cutting Rs 150, aluminium wire scrap Rs 150 and aluminium utensils scrap Rs 148.
